Camp Counselor
Under the direct supervision of the Head Camp Counselors & General Manager, Camp Counselors are responsible for ensuring a fun, safe and positive camp experience for campers. Counselor responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:
Teamwork & Leadership:
- Supervising a variety of recreational and educational activities for children ages 5-12
- Collaborate with other camp counselors to assist in daily activities
- Assist instructors, lifeguards, and other LRD staff by actively participating in all aspects of the camper’s day
- Set a good example for campers in all areas, including cleanliness, clean-up, rules, and sportsmanship and being respectful
- Flexibility and willingness to take on other duties as assigned
Activities:
- Guide campers in all aspects of activities
- Engage with campers in activities including crafts, games, sports, science, swimming, creative play, etc.
- Supervise and lead assigned program areas and activities as designated by the Head Camp Counselors
Administrative:
- Adhere to established schedules and work assignments
- Excellent time management
- Attend meetings as scheduled
- Open, clear, and effective communication with staff, kids, parents & management
- Respond to emails and phone calls regarding job in a timely manner
- Clock in and out upon arrival and departure each day
Safety:
- Enforce the policies/rules to ensure the safety of the campers
- Perform first aid as needed
- Conduct equipment, supply and facility inspections to ensure proper use and safety
- Observe behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques
- Notify the Head Counselor & Management of any problems that arise in a timely manner
- Complete and maintain records including attendance records, forms, accident, and injury reports, etc.
Volunteer Camp Counselor

The Junior Counselor role is a volunteer position that provides hands-on experience and training to gain knowledge on how to become an effective Camp Counselor. This is a seasonal position that begins in June and ends in July. Junior Counselors will report to the Head Camp Counselors and General Manager.
Junior Counselors will be able to record their hours to help them with volunteer hours towards school or personal development program requirements. The General Manager or Assistant Manager will need to sign the appropriate paperwork if needed. Should the Junior Counselor continue volunteering until the age of 15, they will be able to apply to interview for a paid Camp Counselor position.

- All applicants need to have a current CPR/AED Certification to apply - Certification Courses!
Dolphins Swim Coach
Dolphin Swim Coach positions are seasonal: June—July (end of summer swim team). Coaches report directly to the Dolphin Head Coach.
Coaching Responsibilities:
- Coach up to five Dolphins practices per week
- Attend all Dolphin Swim Meets
- Support swimmers and families as needed to ensure meet logistics run smoothly
- Organize and develop practice regimens
- Uphold positive group dynamics along with appropriate progressions
- Provide feedback to swimmers and other coaches as needed
- Ensure LRD member satisfaction
- Display enthusiasm, provide encouragement and team spirit
Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and provide supplies for craft day (will be reimbursed if needed)
- Attend all mandatory In-Service Trainings and Safety/Staff Meetings
- Will receive notification
Qualifications:
- Current CPR/AED Certification - Certification Courses!
- Professional, team-player, responsible, self-motivated and reliable
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Active participant on Dolphins swim team
- Must be an LRD Member
Volunteer Dolphin Swim Coach

Junior Coaches will be able to record their hours to help them with volunteer hours towards school or personal development program requirements. The General Manager or Assistant Manager will need to sign the appropriate paperwork if needed. Should the Junior Coach continue volunteering until the age of 15, they will be able to apply to interview for a paid Swim Coach position. This is a seasonal position that begins in June and ends in July. Junior Coaches will report to the Head Swim Coach and General Manager.

Lifeguard
Lifeguard positions are seasonal and year-round. Guards report directly to the Head Guard and/or the Assistant Manager & General Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to and execute emergency lifesaving procedures to swimmers in distress and other emergencies at the pool
- Enforce pool rules of the pool
- Complete Incident Reports regarding incidents at the pool
- Help maintain cleanliness of LRD’s pool deck & locker rooms.
- Reviews all pool equipment and furniture for functionality.
- Provides excellent customer service to pool patrons
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Attend all mandatory In-Service Trainings and Safety/Staff Meetings
- Manage schedule & communicate appropriately with upper management
Qualifications:
- Current Lifeguard CPR/AED Certification in a pool setting - Certification Courses!
- Professional, team-player, responsible, self-motivated and reliable
- Excellent time management & communication skills
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Available to potentially work early mornings, nights, weekends & holidays.
- LRD accepts applicants who are members & non-members.
Pay Rate:
- Based on Experience
- Pay Rate increase for returning guards
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Due to the fluctuating nature of the community center environment and operations, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions. It may be necessary to work in other areas of the LRD and help others when the occasion arises. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed.
